Game developer Bit Reactor has begun bringing back staff who were furloughed ahead of the release of its tactical video game Star Wars Zero Company, according to IGN, GamesIndustry.biz, Game Developer, and Eurogamer. In a statement posted online on October 7, 2026, Bit Reactor chief executive Greg Foertsch said the studio started the process of returning team members to work this week as an important step forward to support the game. [1][2][3][4]

The recalled staff are returning after a major temporary layoff, which is a temporary cessation of paid employment to address company financial issues, ahead of the title's release. Game Developer and IGN reported that the studio had previously furloughed over 80 percent of its workforce down to a skeleton crew. GamesIndustry.biz noted that one source indicated more than half of the pre-furlough team has now returned to the payroll, though Greg Foertsch did not confirm exact staff numbers. [1][2][3][13]

Greg Foertsch stated that the decision to ask staff to step away was incredibly difficult and followed unexpected business developments outside the studio's control, according to GamesIndustry.biz and Eurogamer. VGC and GamesSpot both reported that the studio is paying furloughed developers again, following what GamesRadar described as an incredible response to the game after its launch. [2][4][5][6][7]

Published by Electronic Arts, Star Wars Zero Company was released for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on August 27, 2026. GamesRadar reported that the studio plans to share further updates regarding Bit Reactor and future support for the title. [6][12]
