Developer Fuse Games and publisher Secret Mode launched Star Wars: Galactic Racer on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. According to Game Developer, Chief Executive Matt Webster told VGC that sales are healthy, while the game is regularly hitting 18,000 concurrent users on Steam with a mostly positive rating. Bespin Bulletin also reported that Webster confirmed the sales for the title were healthy. [1][10][14]

Game Developer, GamingBolt, and Tech-Insider report that the racing game was built by a small core studio using extensive external outsourcing and a structured co-development model. Webster explained a three-tiered framework for managing external partners to streamline distributed production, allowing the studio to scale development efficiency without expanding its main internal headcount. [1][8][11]

The success of the game follows a broader shift by Lucasfilm toward smaller project pitches. According to PC Gamer and Rock Paper Shotgun, Lucasfilm leadership wants to continue backing smaller-scale Star Wars games alongside Bit Reactor title Star Wars Zero Company, rather than focusing solely on large triple-A blockbusters. AOL UK and Daily Express both report that retail prices for the PlayStation 5 version dropped under 28 pounds from an original price of 43 pounds. [2][3][4][5]

As FTMQ Gaming reported earlier, the off-track intrigue in Galactic Racer was inspired by the Netflix documentary series Drive to Survive. Game Developer and Star Wars News Net report that developers are now looking toward future production takeaways, with team members hinting that post-launch content for the title is currently in development.
