Japanese studio PlatinumGames is eager to expand the character of Bayonetta and broaden her world using the Nintendo Switch 2, My Nintendo News reported. Chief Executive Officer Atsushi Inaba made the comments during a joint interview with Shift Up chief executive Kim Hyung Tae published by Japanese gaming outlet Famitsu, according to My Nintendo News. PlatinumGames was founded in Osaka in October 2007 by alumni including Inaba, Hideki Kamiya, and Shinji Mikami. The studio developed the original Bayonetta action game, which debuted in 2009 under publisher Sega. Nintendo later took over publishing duties for the franchise starting with Bayonetta 2 in 2014. The urban fantasy action-adventure series follows a witch who wields dual pistols, shooters in her high heels, and magically transforming hair as weapons. The franchise expanded on Nintendo Switch with Bayonetta 3 in 2022 and the prequel spin-off Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon in 2023. [3][4]
Inaba did not announce a specific game title during the interview, but indicated that future developments for the studio flagship series will leverage the processing capabilities of Nintendo next hardware platform. [1][3]
