Embark Studios is releasing the Frozen Trail update for its multiplayer extraction shooter ARC Raiders on Oct. 8, 2026. Polygon and Destructoid both reported that the patch will go live simultaneously across PC and consoles. Polygon described the release as the largest content update in the history of the game, while Destructoid called it the biggest update to arrive in six months. [2][3][11]

The update introduces a snowbound map named Pendola Pass, which features periodic freeze waves and a gondola extraction option, Esports.gg reported. Players will also gain access to three new ARC enemy types, a weapon amplification system, and a grappling hook movement mechanic, according to reports from Polygon, PC Gamer, and Esports.gg. Polygon and Esports.gg both noted that the patch introduces dungeon-style and endgame raid-style encounters. [1][2][5][6]

ARC Raiders is a 2025 third-person extraction shooter, a genre where players enter dangerous maps to gather loot before reaching a designated escape point. Embark Studios developed and published the title for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X and S on the Unreal Engine 5 engine. Players can navigate the game solo or in teams of two or three. [11]

The major update arrives alongside broader expansions for the franchise. MassivelyOP reported that Nexon's Embark Studios partnered with Chernin Entertainment to develop film and television adaptations for both ARC Raiders and The Finals. Additionally, GamesRadar reported that a lead developer encouraged players to take breaks and try other games if they finish the current content. [4][7]
