Video game publisher Runic Forge has rebranded as Pythia Games, GamesIndustry.biz, WN Hub, GameDev.net, and Noisy Pixel all reported. Parent company Rune, a United Kingdom based marketing agency, is ending its agency services to operate exclusively as an independent game publisher. [1][2][3][4]
The corporate shift follows the launch of Hearth and Hamlet, a cozy incremental city builder developed by Phorust Studios, according to GamesIndustry.biz. An incremental game is a title centered around mechanics where players earn currency over time to unlock automated upgrades. GamesIndustry.biz reported that Hearth and Hamlet launched on Steam on August 19, selling nearly 50,000 units in its first 24 hours and reaching 100,000 sales in its first week. Prior to launch, the game accumulated over 125,000 wishlists, and its free demo attracted more than 100,000 unique players. [1]
Noisy Pixel reported that alongside the rebrand, the publisher is expanding its release lineup with two new titles, Carnholt and Dragon's Tear. [4]
