Player engagement across Capcom's Resident Evil video game franchise rose by 50 percent around the release of director Zach Cregger's film adaptation, GamesIndustry.biz reported. According to data provided by Sensor Tower, combined daily active users across five titles increased from 500,000 on August 30 to 750,000 on September 20. Resident Evil 2 saw a particularly high increase in daily active users during that timeframe. [1][9][10]
The Sensor Tower metrics tracked five entries in the survival horror series across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Steam. The tracked titles were Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, Biohazard, Village, and the 2026 mainline release Requiem. Alongside the surge in game activity, the franchise is marking its 30th anniversary in Japan through a collaboration with Pasela Resorts, Destructoid reported. The hotel partnership includes special themed food, beverages, and collectible character photo cards. Meanwhile, retailer Amazon reduced the price of Resident Evil Requiem across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2 to $50 ahead of its Prime Big Deal Days sale, according to IGN.
