Independent game developer Julian Zamora, operating under the name chicanogoth on Instagram, is developing a fan game based on director Zach Cregger's Resident Evil film, Dexerto reported. GamesRadar, GamesRadar+, and Dexerto all report that the project uses a survival horror design inspired by the original PlayStation console, complete with fixed camera angles. [1][2][5][7]

According to Dexerto, the fan project is being built in the open source Godot game engine. Early footage shared online recreates a film scene in which the character Bryan, played by actor Austin Abrams, seeks refuge in a barn during a snowstorm before being pursued by an infected dog. [1]

Resident Evil is a Japanese horror video game and media franchise created and published by Capcom, which has sold over 213 million copies worldwide as of June 2026. Early entries in the series established survival horror gameplay through resource management, puzzle solving, and fixed camera perspectives. [6][9]

As FTMQ Gaming reported earlier, daily active players across five Resident Evil titles rose 50 percent to 750,000 following the release of Cregger's cinematic adaptation. Polygon reported that the Resident Evil film earned $60 million during its opening weekend, doubling the $31 million opening weekend box office gross of the recent Street Fighter movie adaptation.
