Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action film adaptation set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, according to reports from Deadline, Variety, and multiple gaming outlets. Game developer CD Projekt Red will co-produce the project alongside Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. CD Projekt Red joint chief executive officer Michał Nowakowski stated that the studio is excited to partner with Paramount, noting that the publisher shares its creative ambitions for the franchise. The upcoming project follows previous media adaptations for the property, including the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners from Studio Trigger. [1][2][3][4]

Following the announcement, Smile 2 actor Kyle Gallner expressed interest in playing V, the protagonist of the original video game, IGN reported. In the 2020 action role-playing game developed and published by CD Projekt Red, players take control of V, a mercenary battling a corporate overwrite of their mind in the fictional metropolis of Night City. The movie adaptation comes as Hollywood continues to pursue video game properties following recent adaptations of Mario and Minecraft, according to Kotaku. CD Projekt Red stated it plans to share more details about the film at a later time. [2][3][4]
