Roblox Corporation has confirmed that an internal AI research agent failed to operate as intended after downloading adult content from asset sites Open3DLab, Smutlab, and SFMLab. Game Developer reported that a company spokesperson confirmed the agent has been decommissioned. Roblox stated that the gathered data will not be used to train any artificial intelligence models. [1]

The confirmation follows allegations from Open3DLab administration that Roblox used an automated crawler to collect files while ignoring site rules. Game Developer and virus.hr both reported that the agent downloaded 145.5 gigabytes of 3D models and art assets. Tom's Hardware reported that the scraping spree involved approximately 1,000 files taken by the automated crawler. [1][2][3]

According to Game Developer, a spokesperson affirmed claims by Open3D administrator Salaryman that a Roblox researcher originally built the AI agent to gather publicly available 3D assets. Safety concerns are not new for the online gaming platform Roblox, which hosted 144 million daily active users as of late 2025. [1][5]

Platform safety controversies previously prompted lawsuits in the United States over alleged failures to protect children from sexual content and predation. As FTMQ Gaming reported earlier, consumer protection authorities in San Diego have also targeted Roblox alongside other tech firms over child safety concerns. [4][6]
