Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser is actively avoiding Grand Theft Auto 6

Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser is actively avoiding media coverage and gameplay for Grand Theft Auto 6, according to Dexerto and VGC. Speaking on Variety's Strictly Business podcast, Houser stated that he has not watched the 27-minute extended look at the game that premiered on Netflix in August. [1][4]

Dexerto, GamesRadar, and VGC all report that Houser is avoiding the footage to keep from being distracted or disrupted creatively in his current work. Houser explained that he prefers to focus on developing new ideas rather than comparing his work to what he might have done differently at his former studio. [1][3][4]

Houser previously wrote and produced major titles for publisher Rockstar Games, including Grand Theft Auto 3 through 5, Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2, Bully, and Max Payne 3, according to VGC. He left Rockstar Games in 2020 to establish Absurd Ventures, where he is currently working on an open-world action title. [4]

Grand Theft Auto 6 is the first main entry in the action-adventure franchise developed without Houser's involvement, Dexerto reported. The series is published by Rockstar Games and was historically developed under the oversight of Dan Houser and his brother Sam Houser. [1][11]
