Czech game developer Warhorse Studios has suffered a serious cyberattack that resulted in unauthorized access to internal company systems and data. Game Developer, GamesIndustry.biz, Push Square, TechPowerUp, GamingOnLinux, and TweakTown all reported that the studio confirmed the breach on October 27, 2026. Game Developer and Push Square reported that the company published statements on its official website and social media channels to announce the incident. [1][2][3][4][5][6]

Game Developer, GamesIndustry.biz, and Push Square reported that the studio is working alongside cybersecurity experts to secure its networks and determine the full extent of the breach. GamesIndustry.biz reported that Warhorse Studios is not conducting media interviews or releasing further public statements while the investigation remains active. Chief executive Martin Frývaldský stated in a post quoted by Game Developer and GamesIndustry.biz that the developer is dedicating all necessary resources to address the situation and will share updates as soon as responsibly possible. [1][2][3]

Warhorse Studios is based in Prague and was founded in July 2011 by Dan Vávra and Martin Klíma. The developer is best known for creating Kingdom Come: Deliverance, an action role-playing game set in 15th-century Bohemia that launched in February 2018 and has sold over 10 million copies. The studio released its sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, in February 2025. Media publisher Plaion acquired the developer in February 2019. [7][8]

As FTMQ Gaming reported earlier, Warhorse Studios was targeted by the intrusion while actively working on an unannounced open-world action role-playing game based on The Lord of the Rings franchise. Game Developer also reported that the studio is working on an unnamed Lord of the Rings title. [1][9]
