Microsoft plans to expand its Advanced Shader Delivery feature to Windows devices running Nvidia, Intel, and Qualcomm graphics hardware later in October, Digital Foundry, Windows Report, and TechPowerUp reported. The cloud-based service downloads pre-compiled shader files directly to a personal computer. The technology is designed to eliminate shader compilation stutter and speed up initial game launches. [1][8][9]

DirectX Program Manager Wendy Ho announced the upcoming feature update in a Microsoft blog post, Digital Foundry reported. Reports from tbreak.com and OC3D noted that the service will support all Nvidia RTX graphics processing units. At present, the service only supports AMD Radeon graphics cards for PC titles such as Gears of War: E-Day. [1][6][7]

The expansion comes as the Nvidia RTX 5070 has become the most-used graphics card in the latest Steam hardware survey, according to DLCompare.com and PC Guide. Nvidia first launched its GeForce RTX 50 series consumer graphics cards in January 2025, which feature Blackwell microarchitecture and fourth-generation ray tracing hardware. [3][4][11]

Once the feature update rolls out later this month, players using Intel and Nvidia graphics hardware will be able to run supported PC games without encountering shader compilation stutter, Digital Foundry reported. [1]
