Swedish developer Liquid Swords has filed for bankruptcy and closed its doors, PC Gamer and Eurogamer report. Employees reportedly went unpaid for two months prior to the filing, according to PC Gamer and GamesIndustry.biz. The studio's administrator, Swedish law firm Cirio, has published a preliminary bidding document to find a buyer for the developer and its assets, GamesIndustry.biz reported. Liquid Swords was co-founded in 2020 by Sundberg, who previously co-founded Avalanche and worked as creative director on Just Cause, VGC reported. The studio's debut title, Samson: A Tyndalston Story, released for Windows in April 2026 and for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in September 2026. The action-adventure title received mixed reviews and sold 151,900 units by October 2026, leading to the bankruptcy. [4][8]

Eurogamer reported that Sundberg is in discussions with parties involved in Liquid Swords regarding continued support for Samson. Sundberg also stated that he intends to start a new studio designed for the current market and will share further details soon, according to Eurogamer. [3]
