Terminally ill Grand Theft Auto 6 fan dies before launch

A 25-year-old fan of Grand Theft Auto 6 has died three weeks before the game is scheduled to launch, IGN and Dexerto reported. The player, named Jerry and known online as Void Only, passed away on October 29, 2026, according to Dexerto. [1][2]

Jerry went viral on TikTok in August after posting that he was hospitalized with interstitial lung disease and needed a lung transplant, IGN reported. Dexerto stated that he had been fighting the lung condition since he was 17 years old. In his viral post, he mentioned his desire to play the upcoming game from developer Rockstar Games, IGN added. Surgery was complicated because his lungs were attached to his chest wall, making any operation dangerous, IGN reported. Dexerto reported that his family confirmed his death occurred after he suffered from worsening health complications and a series of infections. IGN noted that other players had organized a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for his medical treatment. [1][2]
