Digital Sun Games has altered its testing plans for its upcoming video game ReVamp due to concerns over generative artificial intelligence tools cloning the title. Game Developer reported that the indie studio is now restricting early playtests to its Discord community instead of holding a public test. [1]
The developer had planned a public playtest earlier in the month to gather player feedback and improve gameplay metrics. Game Developer reported that the team scaled back the test after a surge of generative artificial intelligence clones caused fears that copycat developers using quick coding tools could beat the studio to market. [1]
Digital Sun Games is best known as the developer of the action role-playing games Moonlighter and Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault. The studio describes its upcoming title ReVamp as a Tower Defensevania, which combines traditional tower defense mechanics with exploration elements. [1]
The decision follows similar security adjustments across the games industry. As FTMQ Gaming reported earlier, developer Who You and publisher Alliance Arts canceled a public Steam demo for Drunken Goddess Reflux in October due to similar concerns over artificial intelligence copycats. [1][2]
In short

- ReVamp was originally scheduled to undergo a broader public playtest to collect player metrics.
