Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii has released a new text-based adventure game that he claims was created in about 30 minutes using generative artificial intelligence, GamesIndustry.biz and VGC reported. Nintendo Life cited VGC in reporting that the game is titled Interrogation Room Komiya, in which players select text prompts to interrogate a suspect. Eurogamer, GamesIndustry.biz and VGC all confirmed that Horii shared the title on X, formerly Twitter. [1][2][4][5]

Horii told players on X not to press the boost button during gameplay, GamesIndustry.biz reported. According to GamesIndustry.biz and VGC, Horii stated that people can now create a decent game on their own by giving instructions to artificial intelligence, even if they cannot program or draw pictures. Kotaku reported that the project was driven by Claude, an artificial intelligence platform. [1][4][6]

Eurogamer and VGC both reported that Horii compared the project to making his 1983 visual novel adventure game, The Portopia Serial Murder Case. Horii noted on X that he wrote the story, drew the pictures and handled the programming all by himself for the 1983 game, but can now instruct artificial intelligence to generate games instead. [2][4]

Horii is best known as the creator of the Dragon Quest role-playing franchise, published by Square Enix, as well as supervising the scenario for the 1995 RPG Chrono Trigger [12, 13]. [4][12][13]
