Jagex announces fourth RuneScape MMO and animated series at RuneFest

Developer Jagex has announced a fourth massively multiplayer online role playing game in the RuneScape series at the RuneFest event in Birmingham, England. Eurogamer and IGN both report that the upcoming game is built in Unreal Engine and carries the working title RS4. A release is not expected for at least a few years. [1][2]

The new project aims to bring the fictional world of Gielinor to life using modern technology while preserving the community spirit of the franchise, according to statements cited by Eurogamer and IGN. Jagex stated that the title is being designed for a new generation of players. [1][2]

Alongside the new game, Jagex is developing a RuneScape animated adaptation, Eurogamer and IGN reported. The project is being created in partnership with YouTuber Charlie MoistCr1TiKaL White. [1][2]

The RuneScape franchise includes Old School RuneScape, a separately maintained game that Jagex released in February 2013 based on a 2007 backup version of the original title. [5]
