Lucasfilm is seeking developers to pitch a potential Star Wars Battlefront 3 project, according to industry reports. Kotaku, Polygon, Push Square, Destructoid, and Wccftech all report that both Destiny studio Bungie and former series developer EA DICE are under consideration for the third installment of the multiplayer shooter series. [1][2][3][4][10]

The rumor originated from a Quartermann gossip column inside a recent Electronic Gaming Monthly digital issue, according to Kotaku, Push Square, and Destructoid. Giant Bomb cohost Jeff Grubb highlighted the report on his Game Mess Mornings podcast, noting that Disney is seeking a developer following a resurgence in popularity for 2017's Star Wars Battlefront 2, Polygon and Push Square report. [1][2][3][4]

Bungie, an American studio based in Bellevue, Washington, is a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment that previously created the Halo and Marathon franchises. Push Square and Destructoid note that Bungie is currently working on its upcoming extraction shooter Marathon alongside ongoing updates to Destiny 2, making any potential Star Wars project early in development. The Star Wars Battlefront series features first-person and third-person shooter gameplay spanning multiple eras of the Star Wars universe. Neither Disney, Lucasfilm, nor Bungie have officially confirmed talks or announced a new title in the franchise. [1][2][3][13]
