World of Warcraft: Forever has completed the largest beta in the history of the franchise, Kotaku reported. Microsoft Chief Executive Satya Nadella revealed the testing milestone during the company's first quarter earnings call. World of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online role playing game, where large numbers of players interact in a shared virtual world, developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. [1][8]
Access to the beta was included for players who pre-purchased premium bundles starting at 60 dollars, Kotaku reported. However, Blizzard Entertainment also allowed players to sign up for beta access for free and held a free stress test day. Kotaku noted that it remains unclear if Nadella's assessment included participants from the free testing options. [1]
The announcement comes as World of Warcraft: Forever approaches its official release, MassivelyOP reported. The game's pre-launch phase recently experienced technical issues during early name reservations. MassivelyOP reported that the name reservation process was bogged down by errors and required players to repeatedly attempt to log into the game. [2][3]
Blizzard Entertainment has also been promoting the upcoming title with a mockumentary web series called Planet Azeroth, according to PCGamesN. The promotional series features comedian Bill Bailey as a host styled after broadcaster David Attenborough. As FTMQ Gaming reported earlier, Blizzard previously issued a final race balance pass for character movement speeds and statistics ahead of launch. [4][10]
