Hideo Kojima makes cameo appearance in new My Chemical Romance animated short

Game designer Hideo Kojima has made a cameo appearance in a new animated short film from rock outfit My Chemical Romance, IGN and Polygon reported. The seven and a half minute stop motion project is titled Prelude to The End and arrived as a surprise release on October 29, 2026. [1][2]

The short film was created by artist Lauren Tsai and draws on her stop motion series The Dying World, according to Polygon. The project features music based on The End, a song from the band 2006 album The Black Parade. Polygon and Paste Magazine reported that musicians Billie Eilish and Phoebe Bridgers also make appearances alongside Kojima. [2][5]

Kojima is a Japanese video game designer, writer, director, and producer best known for creating the Metal Gear franchise. His work is recognized for its cinematic style and influence from film and music. As FTMQ Gaming reported earlier, Kojima is currently developing upcoming video game titles including OD and Physint, and recently filmed a cameo for an unannounced live action movie. [6][8]

Separate reports from Polygon note that an original net anime titled Death Stranding Isolations released its first teaser trailer ahead of a planned 2027 release. The anime project expands the universe of Kojima 2019 game Death Stranding into animated media. [3]
