Jagex reveals new RuneScape roadmaps and RuneScape 4 at RuneFest
Developer and publisher Jagex announced multi-year roadmaps for its RuneScape titles, including a new expansion for survival game Dragonwilds and the development of RuneScape 4.

Developer and publisher Jagex unveiled roadmaps covering 2026 and 2027 for its fantasy titles during its annual RuneFest convention, according to Nintendo Life, MMORPG.com, and RPG Site. PC Gamer and RPG Site both reported that Jagex announced RuneScape 4, a full massively multiplayer online sequel that began development as an expansion to the survival game RuneScape: Dragonwilds. Nintendo Life reported that RuneScape: Dragonwilds will receive a free update titled Luminance this winter, serving as a prelude to the Blood Crystal Saga planned for 2027. The updates for Dragonwilds will introduce additional features including the Prayer skill, as noted by Nintendo Life, while Insider Gaming reported that Jagex will also add modding support and the Hunter skill. RPG Site reported that RuneScape 3 has been renamed to RuneScape: Reignited as part of a redesign reflected in planned 2027 updates. RPG Site and TheGamer both noted that Old School RuneScape will receive major skill changes and content drops, while an animated adaptation featuring streamer Charlie White is also in development.
