Developer S Game recently hosted preview events in Beijing, China, for its upcoming wuxia action title Phantom Blade Zero. Outlets were invited to play extended hands-on sessions of the game. Polygon reported playing four hours of the title on Windows PC, while GamesRadar stated its play session lasted three hours. PCGamesN, Push Square, and IGN all reported playing six hours of the game. The preview builds allowed journalists to experience the opening section of the melee action title. Polygon reported playing from the very start of the game through the end of its first chapter, followed by two separate boss encounters. PCGamesN noted that the hands-on session provided access to main story content after earlier events like Summer Game Fest only showcased side quests. [1][2]

Phantom Blade Zero features wuxia inspired fast martial arts combat described by Polygon as kungfupunk. GamesRadar characterized the title as a wuxia action role-playing game with elements similar to Soulslikes, a genre of action games known for challenging combat and high difficulty. [1][5][8]

Uncertainty remains regarding the physical release of the game on consoles. Reports from iXBT.games and Wccftech indicate that retailer Playasia removed PlayStation 5 physical listings, stating that a physical edition will not be released. [3][7]
