Chinese studio S-Game has released its wuxia action role-playing game Phantom Blade Zero, Rock Paper Shotgun reported. Rock Paper Shotgun noted that the game launches alongside a day-one patch providing bug fixes and improvements to ray tracing. The title requires a download installation size of 145GB that temporary expands to 300GB during setup. [2][9]

GamesRadar and GamesRadar+ reported that the initial playthrough offers three distinct difficulty options: Wayfarer for easy, Pathbreaker for normal, and Hellwalker for players seeking higher difficulty. A permadeath challenge mode unlocks after finishing the first playthrough. Soulslike games are action role-playing games known for high difficulty, environmental storytelling, and dark fantasy settings. [1][8][10]

Players take control of Soul, an elite assassin framed for murder who must navigate a dark fantasy world with limited time to survive. As FTMQ Gaming reported earlier, preview builds were previously tested by media outlets during preview events held in Beijing. Combat combines rapid hack-and-slash combo mechanics with boss encounters inspired by martial arts, according to the PlayStation Blog. [7][9][11][12]

PCGamesN reported that players can obtain unique gear such as the Feather Bow, which acts as the game's first Phantom Edge weapon, to acquire items hidden in environment trees. PC Gamer noted that players can also upgrade healing items by utilizing healer's memories gathered throughout questing. [3][5]
